8 days in August

When is a man a man? When is a couple a couple? In his cinema debut, Swiss director Samuel Perriard tells the story of a young family whose ideal world becomes more than fragile during the summer holidays in Italy.

Two families of friends, a remote beach in Puglia and a house in the hills above the sea. It couldn't be more beautiful. But a breakdown of teenage son Finn not only shakes a friendship, but also the relationship of his parents Helena and Adam. While Adam feels powerless and noticeably treading water, Helena longs for excitement and change.

Sensitively narrated and with strong atmospheric images, Swiss director Samuel Perriard depicts the gradual transformation of a couple in his successful debut film – impressively embodied by Julia Jentsch and Florian Lukas. "Eight days in August" that change everything and one last summer before a new chapter is opened.
