MUSIC | CLASSICAL MUSIC

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart composed the famous Clarinet Quintet for his friend Anton Stadler, a master of the clarinet. Andreas Ottensamer also plays the instrument as expressively and differentiated as few others. For his debut in Klosters, the principal clarinetist of the Berlin Philharmonic brought along his friend Schumann Quartet, with whom he has been making chamber music for many years. The brothers Erik, Ken and Mark Schumann have been playing together since their earliest childhood. Together with violist Veit Hertenstein, the four form the Schumann Quartet, which captivates with its particular homogeneity in sound, but also a willingness to take risks and intensity: just the right thing for Beethoven's String Quartet No. 4 in C minor op. 18/4. For Andreas Ottensamer's arrangement of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's "Songs without Words", the Spanish double bass player Uxía Martínez-Botana expands the circle of friends into a sextet.

Program:

Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy (1809–1847); from «Songs without Words» arrangement for string quartet, clarinet and double bass

Ludwig van Beethoven (1770–1827); String Quartet No. 4 in C minor op. 18/4
