Event Arosa Lenzerheide
Bergkirchli-Konzert mit Robert Grossmann
Description
Music from the Samedan Lute Manuscript of 1563 The Samedan Lute Manuscript of 1563 is a testament to Swiss music-making from the mid-16th century. The manuscript can be accurately dated based on two musical pieces that contain the date 1563. This dating aligns with the life dates of its presumed owner Johann von Salis-Samedan. His father, the Engadin reformer Friedrich von Salis, purchased a lute in Venice for his son and sent it to him in Zurich. A Swiss origin of the manuscript is evident in titles such as "Zurich dances" and "Appenzeller dances," and is further confirmed by the watermark, indicating that the paper was likely produced in Basel.
