BLAUE BLUME

The blue flower grows in the land of poetry. It was first mentioned by Novalis in his novel fragment "Heinrich von Ofterdingen". In Romanticism, the blue flower stands for the longing for self-knowledge, for redeeming love and infinity. In his recital, Sir András Schiff delves completely into the poetic world of Romanticism. The pianist describes Robert Schumann as the "romantic par excellence". You have to think, feel and play poetically when interpreting the music of this composer, says Schiff. A good portion of freedom and imagination is needed to achieve the right expression. Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy was the Mozart of the 19th century for Robert Schumann. And he also thought highly of Johannes Brahms. Sir András Schiff brings together works by all three composers in his recital.
