Cinema Seniors: "Demokrat Läppli" in Ilanz

Theofil Läppli, a stubborn Swiss patriot through and through, has followed in the footsteps of the "cradle of democracy" and, after a visit to the Acropolis, was inspired in Greece to realize a "true democracy" after his return home. On the occasion of the national holiday on 1 August, a company director and mayor named Boller gives a speech that makes Läppli believe in typical values such as sincerity. But the profiteer soon seems to Läppli to be nothing more than a gambler and profiteer like many others. First he buys Läppli's sister Agathe's small house for a ridiculous price, then demolishes it and builds her own villa there. A political friend of Boller's is allowed to present the construction drawings, but he supports Boller's candidacy for the National Council. Theophil Läppli is furious about this kind of deal, but cannot do anything about it for the time being.
