Cinema: "Vingt Dieux" in Ilanz

Totone is young, spirited, carefree. He prefers to spend his time with his buddies, going dancing and flirting. But suddenly he has to take responsibility for his little sister and his parents' farm in the French Jura. Since Totone is completely penniless, he forges a plan: he wants to produce the best Comté cheese in the region and win an agricultural competition. After all, the winner can look forward to a gold medal as well as high prize money. Totone is supported by his two friends, his sister – and by his great love Marie-Lise, who has no idea what questionable methods Totone uses to implement his idea...
"Vingt dieux" is an endearing tragicomedy by French director Louise Courvoisier. Unadorned and with great empathy for her characters, she tells of country life in all its beauty, but also of all its roughness - and of the pitfalls of making a good cheese. Louise Courvoisier was awarded the Prix de la Jeunesse in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Festival for her film, and "Vingt dieux" has also won two Césars (Best First Film, Best Young Actress).
