CLOSE ENCOUNTERS
Description
A Georgian-Swiss festival for sound experiments – and a look at Georgia's young cultural scene in the field of tension between repression and cultural freedom.
For 20 years, CLOSE ENCOUNTERS has been bringing together musicians from Switzerland and Georgia and creating a space for current, experimental music in transcultural dialogue. The last editions in Tbilisi took place against the backdrop of ongoing political tensions. In this way, the festival underlines its social relevance.
On the occasion of the anniversary "20 years of Postremise", young and established artists present a changeable programme that reflects the creative energy and at the same time the uncertainty of the Georgian scene. At the Georgian evening, the electronic musician Tiko Gogoberidze aka TINA will perform together with Nasi Chavchavadze and Lisa Kereselidze, the pianist Tamriko Kordzaia, the singer Russudan Meipariani, the cellist Karolina Öhman and the composers and performers Giorgi Koberidze and Alexandre Kordzaia.
The musical installation MURMUR, the electroacoustic chamber opera HOMO FREQ, the interactive video music game LOST IN SOUND, as well as a short concert by the Ensemble KIOSK at the interface of classical and experimental music will be shown.
