Concert "Origin - Origine - Herkunft"

The regional brass band Cazis is made up of members from all three language regions of Graubünden. In addition, the conductor Robin Bartholini comes from French-speaking Switzerland and therefore all four national languages of Switzerland are currently represented in the band. This special circumstance was the starting point for the idea for this year's concert project "Origin Origin". It reflects the local roots of the musicians of the Brass Band Cazis and at the same time presents a cross-section of the rich musical heritage of their home canton.

The common thread is the folk song "A Trun sut igl ischi", which can be described as the unofficial anthem of Graubünden with a clear conscience. The well-known melody will be heard again and again in various variations over the course of the concert programme, also in reference to this year's celebrations for the 600th anniversary of the "Ligia Grischa" and the 500th anniversary of the "Free State of Three Leagues", which was celebrated in 2024 with various festivities throughout the canton.

The Brass Band Cazis not only draws on existing arrangements, but also presents five new arrangements of works by composers from Graubünden. Among them are "La patria" and "Il cumün in silenzi" by Tumasch Dolf, arranged by conductor Robin Bartholini.

In contrast to this is the original work "Of Men and Mountains" by Edward Gregson. The symphonic tone poem was written on the occasion of the composer's train journey across Canada and the Rocky Mountains and describes the grandeur of nature and the fragility of humanity. The construction of this imposing railway, in the middle of awe-inspiring gorges and high mountain peaks, exemplifies the eternal struggle between man and nature. A topic that could not be better suited to Graubünden.
