Current events in history - Deciding

2024 marks a moment of great importance for the municipalities of San Vittore and Roveredo, which are preparing to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the foundation of the Free State of the Three Leagues. This historic event is of significant importance for the Canton of Graubünden, representing a unique opportunity to rediscover and enhance the history and culture of this region.

Identity and soul of the canton: the municipalities are still the backbone of Graubünden's institutions
The communes are still the backbone of Graubünden's institutions, and in no canton is their autonomy so central, so much so that assemblies still characterise the institutional life of the majority of Graubünden municipalities and – today as then – questions arise about their legitimacy and functionality. Autonomy dates back to the sixteenth century, it lasted until 2000 with the territorial reform: is it still up to the times?

The themes will be introduced by film cards created by Daniele Papacella and Remi Storni. The debate – in which the public is invited to take part – will take place with the involvement of the guests:

- Carmelia Maissen, State Councillor (former Mayor of Ilanz)
- Marco Marcacci, historian from Mesolcina
- Chasper Pult, cultural mediator
