Jewish history begins 4,000 years ago with Abraham's call to leave his homeland. From then on, exile and emigration shaped Jewish existence:

The flight into Egypt and the exodus from Egyptian slavery were followed by three periods of exile: the Assyrian exile in the 8th century BCE, the Babylonian exile in the 6th century BCE and the Roman exile in the 1st century.

Concentrating on Ashkenazi ("German") Jewry, it continues with the flight of Jews from Western to Eastern Europe, reports on the living conditions in Tsarist Russia, on the formation of various inner-Jewish groups, the flight and the construction of a new existence in the USA.

The comprehensive and at the same time "entertaining" journey through time includes songs from the time of the annihilation ("Shoah"), the founding of the state of Israel and from the present day.
