Description
Under the title "Dr Sibti Himmel und a Häxakessel", Mario Giovanoli (recitation, flutes/saxophones) and Ted Ling (keyboards/compositions) will perform excerpts from the book "D' Welschdörfli-Suita – A fantastischi Zit-Reis dur a legendärs Khuurer Quatiar" by Hans Peter Gansner. Ted contrasts, caricatures and accompanies the multi-layered texts recited in rustic Khuurer dialect with congenial sounds. Sporadically interspersed duets with Mario let musical treasures sound.
"D'Welschdörfli-Suita" is an epic-lyrical-dramatic stage work in book form (Edition Signathur, 2019) with CD and booklet with photos by Hans Danuser. The impetus for this multimedia production came from the Welschdörfli itself – with its charm and harassment – which shaped a significant period of Gansner's adolescence. For the first time, as an exile from the quiet, clean Rhine district, he experienced a touch of Montparnasse and Montmartre, of the East Side, the Bronx and the banlieue parisienne. It was a wild, uncontrolled life, in which as a young couple you had to give yourself the rules in order not to drown in the maelstrom of quick pleasures. Not to mention the traffic nuisance that undermined concentrated work and sleep day and night. And yet it was an unforgettable time. The author erects a monument to the long street and its people, the residents and the visitors.
As part of the event, which is jointly organised by the Cantonal Library and the State Archives of the Grisons, the estate of Hans Peter Gansner, which is accessible in the State Archives, will also be presented.
