Everybody Loves Touda

Description
The film celebrates music as a pulsating, personal means of expression and sparkles with energy.
CINEMA | DRAMA
Touda dreams of becoming a recognized Sheikha, a traditional Moroccan artist who has been singing uncensored lyrics about resistance, love and emancipation that have been handed down for generations. Every evening she performs in the bars of her provincial town under the lecherous gaze of the men, because she hopes for a better future for herself and her son. But as a single mother in a patriarchal society, she has a hard time. When she is abused and humiliated, she decides to leave everything behind and try her luck in Casablanca...
Accompanied by hypnotic Moroccan music, the French-Moroccan director Nabil Ayouch paints the portrait of a fun-loving woman who courageously and unwaveringly fights for her emancipation. "Everybody Loves Touda" celebrated its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.
