Exhibition on Ludwig Demarmels

This summer and autumn, the Sala Segantini is showing an exhibition of paintings by the local artist Ludwig Demarmels:

About the artist
Ludwig Demarmels was born on September 4, 1917 in Stierva. He spent most of his youth in Davos and moved to Romanshorn on Lake Constance at the age of 34, where he worked as a freelance artist from 1968 until his death on July 18, 1992. Ludwig Demarmels worked as a commuter between two cultures and leaves behind an extremely diverse artistic oeuvre of elemental power and beauty. It consists of drawings, oil paintings, watercolours, woodcuts and linocuts, original prints, original lithographs, reliefs and sculptures. He was not only artistically talented and very active, no, he also had a successful career as a ski jumper. Ludwig Demarmels always had a close relationship with his homeland of Graubünden, even from Romanshorn until his death. So he found many motifs for his paintings, works and pictures in the Albula Valley and Surses, which are still proof of his connection to his homeland at that time.

To the exhibition
The Pro Segantini Association is pleased to exhibit some paintings by Ludwig Demarmels in the Sala Segantini in Savognin. On display are mainly works by Ludwig Demarmels, which are privately owned by people from the Surses and the Albula Valley.
