Guided tour of the settlement of Lantsch, St. Cassian and Tschividains

The church of St. Cassian: First mentioned in writing in 1405. Reconsecrated after late Gothic reconstruction in 1513.
Opposite the church is the dwelling and barn house of the former dairy.
To the west of the cantonal road, about 30 m from the site of today's chapel, the foundation wall of two churches and 24 burial plots was discovered (Early Middle Ages, 6th and 7th centuries). Presumably predecessor churches dedicated to St. Stephen. In the grass at the wooden cross marked with stone slabs.
Caltgera da Chividains: For the construction of the settlement of Chividains, the building materials available at the time were used: wood, stone, sand and burnt limestone. The limestones were fired in a lime kiln at a temperature between 850 and 1000 degrees Celsius for several days.
Maiensässsiedlung Tschividains: The settlement lies in the municipality of Lantsch/Lenz. It comprises 17 historic mountain hut buildings, all of which are now mainly used for recreational purposes. With the creation of a special zone of Chividain, the municipality has created a future-oriented, legally binding and sustainable overall solution, which enables the regulated and appropriate expansion and preservation of the historical construction of the buildings. We visit two buildings in an idyllic location.
