Description
Nine wedding musicians from the Ukrainian Carpathians have been showing how joie de vivre works for almost 25 years. For centuries, Ukrainian Ruthenians, Roma, Jewish, Romanian and Hungarian people have lived house to house in their homeland, each family for itself and yet together.
The result was an independent music that does not require notes – a music of elementary human emotional outbursts, of joy and sorrow, love and betrayal. It sounds for days and nights at the weddings of the mountain villages and everyone sings and dances to it. The Hudaki Village Band plays a variety of music on traditional instruments and is not afraid to give the old songs a humorous and virtuoso fresh shine.
In the first half of 2025, the band's new, sixth CD will be released, which reflects exactly this multi-ethnic culture of the native Transcarpathia. The musicians of the Hudaki Village Band continue to live and work in Ukraine. They support their family members and friends at the front as well as refugees in western Ukraine.
