Jürg Gautschi & Claudio Spescha: «GEGENRAUCH. Alltagsgeschichten»

In his short stories, Jürg Gautschi tells of everyday life, of joyful, annoying, amusing, abysmal encounters with the world and with himself. In the process, we meet ants that spurn French fries, make the acquaintance of the wild grapevine that demands its place in the living room, and feel the permanent urge for self-optimization in nutrition, in love relationships or at work.
From these everyday scenes, an entertaining mosaic of texts emerges, laconic, humorous and fast-paced. Philosophically absurd mind games become theatrical scenes with ludicrous abysses and everyday events become a mirror of personal or social discomfort. With a wink, Jürg Gautschi shows us small and large things of everyday life for which we often lack the eye and leisure.

Jürg Gautschi was a cultural journalist and documentary filmmaker for many years at Swiss Radio and Television SRF. Today he directs the documentary program Cuntrasts on Radiotelevisiun Svizra Rumantscha RTR. In addition, he writes short stories in Romansh as well as stories and texts for the stage and for the radio. A selection of them appeared in his debut "Cunterfem" in 2023. Claudio Spescha has translated it into German.
In 2005, Jürg Gautschi was awarded the Premi Term Bel of the jury and the audience prize at the Rhaeto-Romanic Literature Days in Domat/Ems. In 2023, he was one of the winners of the OpenNet writing competition at the Solothurn Literature Days.
