Description
Giovanni Segantini was only 41 years old when he died on 28 September 1899 on the Schafberg in the Engadine. For the painter, the Alps symbolized an almost mystical place of longing. In his large-format paintings, he dealt with the life of mountain farmers, but also designed symbolist pictorial compositions and thus became a pioneer of modern painting. Gioconda Leykauf-Segantini, the artist's granddaughter, brings her grandfather's work closer to her at Atelier Bolt. Some of his paintings are projected in original size, prints of selected paintings can be purchased. Works by the host Christian Bolt will also be exhibited. Songs by Gustav Mahler frame this very personal evening. Like Segantini, Mahler was also inspired by nature and opened the door to modernity in his music.
