Klosters Music - The Beautiful Miller's Wife

The journey begins with a cheerful hiking song. The young miller's boy walk is brisk, the landscape bathed in bright colors. But Franz Schubert's song cycle "The Beautiful Miller's Wife", which begins so cheerfully, leads into lovesickness, into jealousy and in the end also into death. Nature becomes a mirror of the soul, the stream a comforting companion. Schubert's masterpiece, composed in 1823, which transforms Wilhelm Müller's twenty poems into psychologically finely drawn art songs, still touches audiences to the core 200 years after it was written. Sir András Schiff can be heard for the first time as a song accompanist in Klosters. With Julian Prégardien (tenor), a singer interprets the popular cycle, who, together with Schiff, dives deep into Romanticism through his understanding of the text and his voice rich in timbre.
