"The Life of Bees" tells the story of the bee colony in the cycle of one year, beginning with the awakening of the bees in spring. At the peak of their wealth, the otherwise industrious bees are seized by a sudden restlessness, which is followed by swarming. As silent observers, we witness the founding of the new state, the hatching of the new queen and her nuptial flight. We are granted the privilege of approaching life in the bee colony with curiosity.

Richard Schnell draws the images of the story through his narration,
they can be experienced through Fritz Nagel's own compositions on the shakuhachi, the kalimba and the bass bansuri.
