Event Arosa Lenzerheide
Lesung mit Edith Gartmann

Description
In spring, the fox is the hungriest. Then ten-year-old Lisa and her little brother Paul see him everywhere on the steep slopes, with his mouth wide open and his long tail. Laughter helps against fear, and from Roman, who drives the school jeep, Lisa has learned well how to laugh, in French, Italian, or English. However, in her grandfather's story, the fox's tail is short, short like the story itself, in which the grandfather shoots off the fox's tail. The grandmother tells a different story: She speaks of the patient daughter, how she cares and shares and accepts everything. She does not complain about her deprivations, for the reward will come in heaven. Even the old dishes in the parents' house are full of stories. A colorful, mismatched, chatty bunch, says Lisa. But further back in the blue sideboard, hidden in a box, something lies buried in letters. They tell of a death in the family. Lisa has questions, too sensitive to share with the adults. So the questions wander into her "swallowing box." But there, they do not always want to stay. Edith Gartmann touching tells of a family that takes refuge in silence and how the repressed returns. At the same time, "Schongebiet" deals with the transformative power of language, enchantingly imaginative and full of humor.
