The inhabitants of the Berghof International Sanatorium in the Swiss high mountains form an extremely illustrious, closed society of idiosyncratic characters, into which Hans Castorp is initially accepted as a guest and with whom he will eventually spend seven years because of his love for Mme Chauchat. At the center of the narrative performance are the captivating characters, insane situations and Hans Castorp's incessant search. In addition to philosophical remarks about time or illness, the brilliant dialogues of Hans Castorp's two conflicting mentors form the political centerpiece. The discourse between the two scholars ends in a duel – and the world-famous novel with the outbreak of the First World War.

The actress Meike Rötzer tells the story of the Magic Mountain in such a situational and sensual way that the Berghof and its inhabitants become vivid – and once again it becomes clear how timeless the Magic Mountain is.
