One Hundred Years of Thomas Mann's The Magic Mountain (1924 - 2024)

Exactly one hundred years ago, Thomas Mann's "Magic Mountain" was published. It has now become what it has always been – a novel of the century.

Based on the Davos Literature Days, which were held from 1994 to 2012, interested parties and enthusiasts will come together in Davos from 5 to 11 August 2024 and take a new look at the "Magic Mountain". Up there, pre-war European society met in the sanatoriums until the First World War swept away the fashionable life of the sick.

Once again, literary scholars will meet for lectures and discussions. They look to Davos, and from there to Europe. They look back and forward. They look at contemporary influences and new sources. They look at Thomas Mann's complete oeuvre and the "Magic Mountain" adaptations in film and music. Just as in the novel many an evening belonged to music, so it should also be the case during this week. At the same time, the Davos Festival Young artists in concert (www.davosfestival.ch) will take place, which will offer a variety of concerts.

Unless otherwise specified, the Literature Conference will take place at Kulturplatz Davos, Promenade 58c, 7270 Davos Platz.

The concerts of the Davos Festival take place at the Davos Congress Centre.

The weekly ticket entitles the holder to attend all lectures in the mornings and afternoons at the Kulturplatz Davos. Not included are transport, meals, accommodation, concerts and evening events at the Kulturplatz.
