PETER AND THE WOLF Family Concert

Sergei Prokofiev needed only four days for his musical fairy tale "Peter and the Wolf". The work for speaker and orchestra, premiered in 1936, is one of the best-known compositions of the 20th century and brings children closer to the instruments of the orchestra in a playful way. A string quartet for Peter, the flute for a bird, the oboe for the duck, the bassoon for the grandfather, the horns for the wolf and drums for the hunters – all played live by the City Light Chamber Orchestra. In our performance, the fairy tale comes even more alive because illustrations made especially for Klosters Music are shown on the large screen in the form of moving images, which transfer history to the Graubünden mountains. The children are close to the action and can cheer along to see whether Peter really catches the big bad wolf in the end. And afterwards they are given an ice cream as a reward for the thrill.
