Vernissage BUBBLES #1: Lisa Collomb – Surface ¦ Tension
Description
Surface ¦ Tension (2026) continues the Slow Mode project, which started from the question of how an artistic practice can have a positive ecological impact. To approach this question, Collomb cultivated 25 m² of flax in her garden. She is constantly developing new forms of presentation from the harvested material. In doing so, she designs practices oriented towards circular economies to which reuse and the processual are inherent. For the exhibition at the Tilde, she transforms the flax fibres into two thousand metres of linen yarn. With this material, she develops a temporary spatial installation and condenses the yarn into curved surfaces that are based on the shape of bubbles.
Lisa Collomb (*1984, Ballymena, Northern Ireland) lives and works in Chur. She studied philosophy, film studies and architecture in Belfast and worked for the studio of Peter Zumthor and as an independent architect and artist. In her work, Collomb deals with the relationship between humans and nature. Her working method is site-specific, mostly installation-based, and she draws on her work as an architect. She has been presenting artistic works in Switzerland and Ireland since 2022.
