In early summer, John Knittel's "Via Mala" will be performed as a large open-air theatre for the first time in Graubünden's theatre history. On the occasion of the 55th anniversary of John Knittel's death, the Haldenstein Independent Theatre acquired the rights to his world-famous mountain novel. Graubünden theatre director Annina Giovanoli wrote the new version and will bring "Via Mala" as the new Graubünden open-air theatre to the open-air stage in the courtyard of Haldenstein Castle from 12 June 2025.
