Since time immemorial, humans have placed themselves in a tense relationship with nature, which is currently exposed to its most extreme stress test. Since when do people no longer feel part of nature? Did it come with fire, with language, with art? When did we begin to elevate ourselves above other beings, to subordinate nature to us – and can this process still be slowed down?

In her latest work, Zurich author Julia Weber, together with theatre makers Mona Petri and Nils Torpus, takes the current escalation as an opportunity to take a closer look at the topic.

The new theatre text, For example, Wolves, which was created during the rehearsal process, hits a primeval human unease with its linguistic precision, which currently resonates in many places and yet is rarely spoken.

Julia Weber studied literary writing at the Swiss Literature Institute in Biel, founded the Literature Service and is co-founder of the group Literature for what happens to support people on the move. Her first novel, Immer ist alles schön, was shortlisted for the Swiss Book Prize. In 2022, Die Vermengung was published and received the Recognition Award of the Canton of Zurich.
