Description

The Älpeltispitz round route starts at the Madrisa valley station, where the path leads along the ski slope to Schlappin. At the back of the ravine, the variant leads up a steep and rocky terrain ridge to Säss and then continues to the summit ridge of the Älpeltispitz (2,686 m above sea level). After enjoying the view from the summit of Älpeltispitz, the descent goes over the Verborgen Tälli to Hauptmaböden. From there, the route leads west of Usser Säss back into the valley floor and then flat back to Schlappin or on to Klosters Dorf.

Hidden Gem

Be sure to stop for a Grisons barley soup at the Berggasthaus Erika!

Safety Note

Those venturing off-piste do so entirely at their own risk and are outside the liability area of the mountain railways. The yellow-marked freeride slopes are secured but not groomed or monitored. They may only be used when open. We recommend checking the open slopes, the SLF avalanche bulletin, and the weather forecast. All liability is excluded.

This freeride route is to be understood as a general directional guide. Depending on conditions, descent routes must be assessed and adjusted independently. No guarantee can be given for the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of the information.

Freeride sport in the open terrain is at your own risk. Every freerider and tourer is strongly advised to prepare thoroughly, plan routes carefully, and obtain current information on snow and avalanche conditions. Avalanche report and snow info: www.slf.ch

Any liability for accidents occurring as a result of using the published information and route instructions is rejected.

In case of doubt, accompaniment by experienced mountain guides is strictly recommended: www.bergfuehrer-davosklosters.ch

Equipment

We recommend the avalanche training center before departure.

At Jakobshorn near the Fuxägufer mountain station in Davos, you can practice the proper use of the avalanche transceiver (LVS) under realistic conditions. The training area consists of a zone 100 x 100 m in moderately steep terrain and thus represents a realistic avalanche cone. Use of the training area is free of charge. You must bring your own LVS and avalanche probe.
