Description

The Alpen Challenge Lenzerheide is the road cycling classic of Graubünden and is considered "Europe's most beautiful cycling marathon." On two routes, up to 1,500 cyclists set out from Lenzerheide, either over the Albula and Julier or over Albula, Maloja and Splügen. Thus, on the long route, the Alpen Challenge is also one of the toughest cycling marathons in the Alps.

The event takes place every August. Current information is available online at www.alpenchallengelenzerheide.ch and on www.facebook.com/alpenchallengelenzerheide

Hidden Gem

It is worth starting early – then the temperatures are still pleasant and you have enough time. For the long route, an alternative is also a ride with the Rhaetian Railway to St. Moritz. That way, one less pass has to be ridden, as the Splügen with over 30 kilometers of ascent is an extremely tough challenge...

Safety Note

Please bring lights on the long route, as there are some tunnels in the Viamala Gorge and between Thusis and Tiefencastel. Alternatively, you can also travel by Rhaetian Railway from Thusis to Tiefencastel.
