Amden, die Stille No. 472

Breathtaking panorama views of Lake Walen and the Glarus Alps make this route unforgettable. After having started in Mediterranean Weesen you will climb up to the mountain village Amden, which is surrounded by a pre-Alpine landscape. A thrilling downhill leads you back to Weesen.

Amden is well-known as a "sun terrace" above Lake Walen. The historic town Weesen is directly located on the shores of Lake Walen. Both villages offer summer and winter specials so that an Alpine idyll forms a perfect symbiosis with a Mediterranean beach atmosphere. This picturesque tour reveals the close affinity of the versatile landscapes in an impressive way.

The continuous ascent up to the highest point provides several moments in which you can recover and enjoy the overwhelming view of the Glarus Alps and the turquoise blue Lake Walen.

The racy downhill is a pure pleasure. If this tour is made in clockwise direction, you will enjoy almost absolute silence in a car-free rural environment. The lakeside promenade and beaches around Weesen offer a perfect opportunity to end a pleasant day.

The Seerenbach Falls by Betlis on Walensee form a cascade of three waterfalls with a total height of 585m. In the gorge where the Seerenbah Falls imposingly crash into the depths is also the place where the Rin source meets the light of day
