Description
At the northern end of the village of Bivio, cross the bridge to the right side of the valley river Gelgia (Julia) and follow it until the forest begins. Then ascend northwards to the upper forest boundary. After bypassing a small pond on the right, you reach Alp Natons. You will be above Lake Marmorera, which supplies the city of Zurich with electricity. Continue ascending on the path to the highest point of the hike at 2,255 m above sea level. Accompanied by a magnificent view, you descend over the Kanonensattel to Alp Flix.
A hiking trail also leads from Alp Natons through the forest via Gruba to Salategnas to Alp Flix.
Alp Flix, which starts in Salategnas, is an extensive high plateau with meadows and pastures reaching up to the various lakes to the north of the large terrace. The groups of houses Tigias, Tga d'Meir, Tgalucas, Cuorts enliven the landscape. Flix has been inhabited year-round by the Walser since the 14th century. Below Tga d'Meir stands the old chapel Son Roc, formerly dedicated to the local St. Luzius. If you walk northwards from Tgalucas via Las Cuorts, you reach the small lakes Lais Blos and Lai Neir, in whose waters the Piz Platta is reflected, which rises on the opposite side of the valley. From Alp Flix, the striking Piz Platta appears as a particularly impressive mountain. In Tigias, it is possible to stay overnight in the mountain guesthouse.
Various options are available as ways back down to the valley. From Salategnas, you can descend on the path to Marmorera or Sur, passing the former Gruba mines. From Tigias and Tgalucas, forest roads lead down to the parking lot and further to Sur. From Cuorts, you can descend along the Ava dallas Cuorts on a path to Sur.
