Description
With packed snowshoes we hike on the low-traffic road to the year-round inhabited village of Cavorgia. At the end of the lower part of the village we install the snowshoes. The path leads us on a snow-covered forest road first flat, later slightly sloping to the snow-covered corn wets of Mises las Cavorgias. We continue to the lowest point, the bridge over the Rhine, to climb on the other side to the main road. If no one has sprinted in front of us, the ascent can cost quite a bit of energy. Arriving at the main road, we unbuckle the snowshoes and we hike up the cleared road to Mumpé Tujetsch.
In Cruschettas, on the winter hiking trail to Sedrun, we find the continuation of the snowshoe trail to Prau sura, a flat sunny alp with well-kept mountain pastures. Leaning against a warm wooden wall, we enjoy the peace and the view of the mountains before continuing the way over the Maiensässe from Run Cunel to Segnas, our destination.
Geheimtipp
In light snowfall, the tour can be especially nice if you are well equipped. If you are already tired in Mumpé Tujetsch, you can end the tour here and take the train back to Sedrun.
The tour can also be started in the opposite direction at the start in Segnas.
Sicherheitshinweis
The route is signposted from Cavorgia but those who are not familiar with the area are advised to print out the topo map for the tour and carry it with them. Do not leave the given route in the wildlife rest zone.
