Description
Why does Obersaxen have so many chapels? One reason is certainly the location and the distribution of the 30 hamlets on the 12-kilometre-long panoramic terrace. The deep gorges with their streams, the snowy winters and the poor connecting roads were almost insurmountable obstacles to being able to attend church services regularly in Meierhof.
On this circular walk, you will discover five of the 11 chapels and the parish church of St. Peter and Paul in Meierhof.
The stories and interesting background information about the sacred buildings have been compiled in the art guide to the churches and chapels of Obersaxen, Surcuolm and Flond. This can be purchased from the information office in Obersaxen Meierhof.
