From Walenstadt the tour leads along the spacious cycle path to Berschis. There the ascent to Sennis starts, past the Lourdes Grotto, St. George's Chapel and the Berschner Waterfall. The Sennis Alp mountain inn is high above the valley, where the ibex and golden eagle say good night.

Description

Starting from Walenstadt train station, you cycle through the town and then on the very spacious cycle path via Tscherlach to Berschis. In the centre of the village, the path forks and you follow the signpost to Kurhaus Sennis. From here the steady ascent begins on a solid, small mountain road. After just a few hundred metres, you will catch a glimpse of St. George's Chapel on the right, a true art monument.

After 14 bends, you have left the steepest part of the path behind you. There are still about 100 meters of altitude missing, which meander along the rocks in a very pleasant incline towards the day's destination.

At the Hotel Kurhaus Sennis you will find refreshments and refreshments, peace, relaxation and new energy. Keep an eye out for golden eagles, ibex, and chamois.

The way back is via the same path downhill towards Walenstadt and the deep blue Walensee.

Ausrüstung

Normal bike equipment. Functional clothing is an advantage, as a longer climb is followed by an equally long descent. Light for the bike is recommended because of the tunnel.
