Vals 3000 plus: The Faltschonhorn is the three thousand peak for hiking above the village and the easiest one to climb in the Vals Valley. Situated in the middle of the border ridge that separates the Vals Valley from Val Lumnezia, it sits enthroned above the sunny meadows of the Leis hay mountains.

The mountain rewards you with a spectacular view down to Vals and a wide panoramic view over the Grison Alps and the central Alpine ridge.

Enjoy the view after the tour on the sun terrace of Gadastatt.

Sicherheitshinweis

A technically easy hike (T3) for good mountaineers, however when wet, cold, or in case of snow, caution is advised especially near the peak.

Mother cows defend their calves. Keep a large distance and be aware of how the mother cow is behaving.

Ausrüstung

Solid, rainproof, warm clothing. Solid mountain or trekking boots. Gloves, hat, sun protection. Walking poles, food and drink in a rucksack, first aid kit, topographical map, altimeter, compass, mobile phone, torch.

Directions

From Gadastatt (1,800 m, gondola top station, mountain restaurant) follow the sign to Stafelti (1,930 m). It is an easy 30 minute ascent up a mountain trail. From Stafelti, follow the little alp road for another 30 minutes to the Leis mountain farm (2,051). From the mountain farm following the markings and climb up to the 2,773 m high Fuorcla da Patnaul in 2 hours continually gaining altitude gradually.

The ascent from the pass to the summit leads up a distinct path over the wide north-eastern ridge in 45 minutes. This tapers towards the summit and levels off over the last 200 metres at the highest point (3,022 m) marked by a cairn.

Descent: 2 hours 30 minutes

Total time walking: 6 hours
