Vals 3000 plus: The Faltschonhorn is the three-thousander hiking peak above the village and the easiest to climb in the Valser valley. Located in the middle of the ridge that separates the Valser valley from Val Lumnezia, it towers above the sunny meadows of the Leiser hay mountains.
The sheep herd with guard dogs is on the Vriner side. The Faltschonhorn is accessible without restriction from the Valser side. For information:

Description
The mountain rewards with a spectacular deep view towards Vals and a wide panorama over the Graubünden Alps and the central main Alpine ridge.
Hidden Gem
After the route, enjoy the wonderful view on the sun terrace of the Gadastatt mountain restaurant with dried meat and wine.
Safety Note
Technically easy route (T3) for experienced mountain hikers, requiring caution in wet, cold and snowy conditions at the summit area.
You must expect cows with calves on this hike.

Equipment
Solid, rainproof, warm clothing. Robust mountain or trekking shoes. Gloves, hat, sun protection. Hiking poles, provisions and drinks from the backpack, first aid kit, topographic map, altimeter, compass, mobile phone, flashlight.
Directions
From Gadastatt (1800 m, cable car mountain station, mountain restaurant) follow the signpost in 30 minutes on a gently ascending mountain path to Stafelti (1933 m). From there in another 30 minutes on the alpine road towards Leisalp (2051 m). From the alp, follow the markings and always gain height gently in 2 hours up to the 2773 m high Fuorcla da Patnaul.
The ascent from the pass to the summit takes 45 minutes on a clear path over the broad northeastern ridge. This narrows towards the summit and leads flat over the last 200 meters to the highest point (3022 m) with cairn.
Ascent: 3 hrs 30 mins. Descent: 2 hrs 30 mins.
Total walking time: 6 hrs.
