Description
From the mountain station of the Fanas cable car begins the wonderful high-altitude hike past many lush mountain pastures with various colorful flowers. Those who keep their eyes open and are a bit lucky can even spot an eagle circling above the ridge. The view deep into the Prättigau valley is also worth a short break.
Hidden Gem
Especially in September, during the rutting season of the stags, a great experience.
Directions
At the mountain station, the ascent begins at the foot of the Sassauna at just under 2,000 m above sea level. Then the beautiful high-altitude hike starts eastward to the Fadur-Mittelsäss at 1,839 m, past many lush mountain pastures with various colorful flowers. Those who keep their eyes open and are a bit lucky can even spot an eagle circling above the ridge. The view deep into the Prättigau valley is also worth a short break.
At the Mittelsäss, the ascent starts through the alpine pastures to the Obersäss and then to the Fadurer-Fürggli at 2,188 m (the path is not always easy to see, but the pass is unmistakable). This short detour to this crossing is especially worthwhile, offering a magnificent panoramic view into the Prättigau and especially northwards to the Schesaplan massif and the Lüneregg.
From the Fadur-Fürggli, the hike continues along the south slope of the Girenspitz eastwards to the Girenfürggli. Here, the descent begins over the alpine pastures of the Schuderser mountain to the pretty mountain dairy Schuders and on to Schuders. In the cozy Gaisschärä restaurant or the mountain inn Post, guests particularly enjoy a good afternoon platter, a hearty barley soup, or a fine pasta dish. Those returning by post bus pass the world monument Salginatobel bridge. It is worth looking out!
