Description
This multi-day cross-country skiing route begins in the peaceful Lower Engadin village of Lavin. The goal? Ski from here to Maloja in the Upper Engadin, where approximately 14,000 participants start the legendary Engadin Skimarathon on the second weekend of March. 69 kilometers and 720 meters of elevation gain are planned, with the number of stages adjustable at your discretion or with the option to hop on the Rhaetian Railway along the way.
After starting in Lavin, the trail follows the Inn River to Zernez. At Susch and shortly before Zernez, you need to briefly take off your skis and walk a few minutes to the next trail entry point. After Zernez, the trail continues for about 14 kilometers mostly through the forest. Enjoy the tranquility and snowy winter forest. From S-chanf, you ski more or less along the original course of the Engadin Skimarathon. The only exception is at Samedan, where you ski via Celerina on the dream trail through the Stazerwald uphill. Highlights on the way to the finish at Maloja: Stazerwald, typical Engadin villages with houses decorated with sgraffito, and the beautiful trail over the frozen Engadin lakes. Here, you especially need to hope for tailwind.
