Chamanna d'Es-cha
The Es-cha hut at 2594 m a.s.l. is situated on a mountain ridge in front of the impressive Piz Kesch. From here, hikers can let their gaze wander far over the beautiful Engadin panorama as if on a balcony, while recovering from the strenuous ascent with tasty home-made food.

Description

From Madulain railway station, follow the hiking trail uphill, first through the forest and then across Alpine pastures to Alp Es-cha Dadour. The trail continues to climb into the Val Müra and then left up to the Chamanna d'Es-cha. After this climb, you will have earned a rest. The wardens at the Es-cha hut treat visitors to good home cooking. The trail now crosses the flank of Piz Kesch to Fuorcla Gualdana, and from there to the Albula Pass road. Walk along the road for a while until the hiking path branches off to Alp Nova. At the crossing, where the Via Engiadina from Bever meets the trail, follow this to the pass road and continue on to Madulain. The route will take you past the Guardaval ruins and back to your starting point.
