Directions
Take the mountain railway to reach the Motta Naluns mountain station. Hike upward to the right towards Chamanna Naluns. Pass under the lift facility, then the path climbs quite steeply. At the next signpost, go left upward towards Alp Clünas. Then turn right towards Alp Clünas. Keep left at the reservoir and pass under the lift facilities. Shortly afterwards, briefly go right uphill, then leave the ski area through a gate to the left. Pass the small hut Schlivera (house no. 175), and the path beautifully winds along the edge of the slope to Alp Clünas at 2444 m.
Shortly afterwards, you can see the church tower of Ftan in the valley. Continue towards Alp Laret along a mountain stream past avalanche barriers. At the signpost, turn left to the viewpoint Muot da l´Hom across the marshy meadows to the summit cross. Return via the same way until you see a small hut. Go straight across the meadow toward the hut. Here you meet the hiking trail again, turn left to continue to Alp Laret. Now partly steep descent (caution when wet). Cross a small hollow below a watering place, then the path and Alp Laret are visible again. Through the turnstile to the alp. On a wide forest road go right downhill, then left towards Ftan on a natural path out of the side valley.
At a clearing you reach a signpost for Ftan. Keep right at the next crossing. Caution, this is a scooter route. But after a few meters the path turns right. Follow the signposts, pass under the chairlift, continue towards Ftan. Past the chairlift ticket office, then down stairs and along the street into the village. The further path leads left towards Scuol. It takes a bit more than an hour. Always straight ahead on the National Park panoramic trail. At the fountain keep right and follow the panoramic trail. Opposite on the slope towers Tarasp castle. Caution: At the signpost do not continue straight on the wide forest road but slightly right a path descends directly under the cable car down to the valley station of the mountain railway.
