Directions
In Casaccia by Hotel Stampa, follow the path over the Orlegna bridge and then turn right onto the road that leads through a beautiful coniferous forest. After about 500 m you reach the junction to Motta Salacina. After a steep ascent along the stream of Valair, you arrive at the beautiful terrace of Motta Salacina (2015 m), with a wonderful view of both the Bergell and the Engadin. The path to Pass da Caval (2135 m) leads right over the gently rolling Motta and then traverses a small slope towards the west. After the pass, the path descends to the Lägh da Cavloc (1907 m).
At the lake, you have the choice: the path to the right leads to the small restaurant Cavloccio and the farm shop of the goat alp Cavloc. Here begins the small road that conveniently leads down to Maloja. On the left path, you can also walk around the lake and continue to the restaurant. Or you turn off at the north shore of the lake onto the path to Lägh da Bitabergh. On reaching the small lake, you can choose the direct path to Maloja or climb another 150 meters in altitude and then follow the junction back to the starting point in Casaccia.
