We start the hike at the mountain station Palfries. With the Palfriesbahn we have previously overcome about 1,250 meters of altitude in just 8 minutes. The train passes an imposing waterfall (Ragnaterbach) and takes us up to the Palfries plateau.

We start an easy mountain hike to the viewpoint Tschugga. There our ascent is rewarded with a magnificent view of Lake Walen and the Seeztal valley at your feet.
During the mountain spring we discover during the ascent, but especially on the ridge, the most beautiful and diverse alpine flowers, such as the male faithful. A feast for the eyes! It is not uncommon to find pilots of model airplanes indulging in their hobby on the ridge.

On the Tschuggen we can watch paragliders and hang-planes gliding down the slope. We also see the panorama of Lake Walen on the right side.

Daytime hiking backpack (approx. 20 litres) with rain cover, sturdy and comfortable footwear, weather-adapted and durable clothing in the multi-layer principle, if necessary telescopic poles, sun and rain protection, provisions and drinking water, first aid kit, pocket knife, mobile phone, possibly headlamp, map material

We take the path in a southeasterly direction and walk on the asphalted alpine road to Chamm, the highest point at the entrance to the Palfries plateau. There we leave the road and take the road leading to the next Alpscherm on the right. After about 200 m we discover the trail branching off to the left and leading over the alpine pasture. This basically leads along the striking border fence towards the goal. Arriving at the destination, we enjoy the view of the surrounding area. The way back takes us back to the Palfries cable car along the same route.
