Rucksack-Weinprobe am Walensee

The starting point of the circular hike is the Hotel Restaurant Seehof in Walenstadt. There we receive a backpack with three selected wines from the region. The path leads through the picturesque vineyards along Lake Walen. Numerous seating options invite you to linger and taste along the way. The audio guide provides exciting insights into viticulture, the region and the work of the winegrowers. This hike combines enjoyment, nature and wine knowledge in a special way.

The circular trail is also part of the Walenstadt forest and nature trail. QR codes along the way provide interesting facts about the local flora and fauna as well as the high biodiversity of the region.

The hike begins at the Hotel Restaurant Seehof in Walenstadt. There we receive the backpack with the three wines. From here we follow Seemühlestrasse for about 350 metres along Lake Walen to the first junction, where we turn left. Along the lakeshore, beautiful spots invite you to enjoy your first wine. The path continues past the Grotto Kaliforni. Shortly afterwards, the path leads right into the forest. We continue to follow the signs for the Walenstadt Forest and Nature Trail. After another short section, we turn right again. The path now becomes narrower and climbs through the forest. Soon the forest opens up and reveals a view of Lake Walen. A perfect place for another tasting break with a view. The way back is via the Unterwaldweg, which takes us back to the starting point at the Seehof, where the backpack is handed in.
