Description
The varied mountain hike starts in the village center of Vals and first leads through the village, a short section along the old Zerfreila trail, through shady forest and across beautiful alpine meadows to the idyllically situated Selvasee lake at 2,297 m above sea level. The return route leads via Heinisch Stafel and Alp Selva to Peil, where you can take the free hiking bus back to Vals at 5 pm. Registration is required. +41 (0)81 935 16 49

Directions
The hike starts at the Visit Vals tourist office. From here, follow the village road into the valley. After a 20-minute walk, you will reach the start of the Alter Zerfreilaweg in Valé shortly after the entrance to the cable car parking lot. Follow this until it joins Zerfreilastrasse. From the Gross Cher, walk along the dirt road towards Ziegenalp. At Bord, turn right onto the hiking trail into the forest at the signpost for Marchegga and Selvasee. The path becomes much steeper and leads up through the shady forest. This section requires some fitness until you reach the upper edge of the forest. Now the trail continues more pleasantly, with a slight incline, to the left to Heinisch Stafel. The marked hiking trail leads from there towards Selvasee. The last challenging ascent leads across alpine meadows to the beautifully situated Selvasee - a hidden gem at over 2,297 m above sea level. M., which invites you to linger, picnic or take a refreshing dip. The way back leads along the same route to Heinisch Stafel, but from there to the right past Alp Selva to Peil.

Public Transport
Take the SBB to Chur, then the RhB to Ilanz. The last 20 km by post bus from Ilanz to Vals.
Travel Information
Take the highway to the Reichenau, Disentis, Flims/Laax exit and follow the road to Flims-Laax-Ilanz. In Ilanz, turn off at the traffic circle in the direction of Vals.
Parking
Parking on the Bidem, at the school building or at the parking lot of the Vals mountain railroad.
