Sennis round route via Castilu

We start the hike at the Palfries mountain station. With the Palfriesbahn, we have already overcome around 1,250 meters of elevation in just 12 minutes. The cable car passes over an impressive waterfall (Ragnatscher Bach) and takes us up to the Palfries plateau.

From the mountain station, the hike starts towards the Palfries mountain inn. Then the path leads us over a natural road to the mountain restaurant Stralrüfi. Afterwards, it goes leisurely over the alpine pasture to Alp Castilu. From there, we continue hiking on the natural road towards Schwamm until we reach the former Kurhaus Sennis.

For the half-hour return trip to the cable car valley station, a shuttle bus is available. Departure is at 4:00 p.m. or from the end of September at 3:00 p.m. The ride must be reserved in advance (cable car valley station or directly at Hotel Kurhaus Sennis).

With a quarter-hour detour at Alp Castilu in a southwesterly direction, we reach the viewpoint "Luegi", which offers a magnificent view of the Seeztal valley and the Walensee lake.

From the mountain station, we hike on a 500-meter stretch on the asphalted alpine road to the Palfries mountain inn. Immediately after the gravelled parking lot, we continue on the natural road and reach the mountain restaurant Stralrüfi after just under an hour (measured from the mountain station). From here, the route follows the farm road leading to Alp Älpeli and from there across the pasture to Alp Castilu. This alp is again connected to Hotel Kurhaus Sennis by a natural road. The viewpoint "Luegi" offers a magnificent view of the wide mountain world, the Seeztal valley, and Walensee lake. From there, we continue hiking towards Schwamm. At the junction, we meet the path via Alp Malun. We then take the path towards Kurhaus Sennis. Upon arrival at the Kurhaus, a wonderful garden terrace awaits us to relax.
