Sennis round tour via Castilu

We start the hike at the Palfries mountain station. The Palfriesbahn cable car takes us up around 1,250 meters in just 12 minutes. The cable car travels over an impressive waterfall (Ragnatscher Bach) and takes us up to the Palfries plateau.

From the mountain station, the hike starts in the direction of the Palfries mountain inn. The trail then leads us along the dirt road to the Stralrüfi mountain restaurant. Afterwards, we take a leisurely walk across the alpine meadow to Alp Castilu. From here, we continue along the dirt road towards Schwamm as far as the former Kurhaus Sennis.

The shuttle bus is available for the half-hour return journey to the cable car valley station, departing at 4 p.m. or 3 p.m. from the end of September. The trip must be booked in advance (cable car valley station or directly at the Hotel Kurhaus Sennis).

A quarter of an hour's detour at Alp Castilu in a south-westerly direction takes us to the "Luegi" vantage point, which offers a magnificent view of the Seeztal valley and Lake Walen.

From the mountain station, we hike 500 meters along the asphalted alpine road to the Palfries mountain inn. Immediately after the gravel parking lot, we continue on the natural road and reach the Stralrüfi mountain restaurant after just under an hour (calculated from the mountain station). From here, we take the road leading to Alp Älpeli and from there across the pasture to Alp Castilu. This alp is in turn connected to the Hotel Kurhaus Sennis via a dirt road. The "Luegi" vantage point offers a magnificent view of the vast mountain world, the Seeztal valley and Lake Walen. From there, we hike on towards Schwamm. At the crossroads, we meet up with the path over Alp Malun. There we take the path in the direction of Kurhaus Sennis. Once we arrive at the Kurhaus, a wonderful garden terrace awaits us to linger.
