Certainly one of the most beautiful and easiest hikes in the Lower Engadine. Tarasp Castle, landmark of the Lower Engadine, picturesque alleys with genuine Engadine houses and the magnificent mountain panorama at the small Lai Nair mountain lake.

Directions

From the PostBus stop in Tarasp, Fontana, walk a short distance up the road to Tarasp, Sparsels. At the end of the village, at the car park, turn right up to Kreuzberg with a wonderful view. From there, the trail descends on the other side to a little road with almost no traffic. Follow this uphill for a few hundred metres. At the fork, follow the markings to Lai Nair, which is reached after a few loops. Near the mountain lake, the trail leads up to a hiking path. This runs above the castle and leads back down to Tarasp, Fontana.

By PostBus (from Martina, Sent, Ftan or Tarasp) hourly to Scuol-Tarasp station

Anreise Information

From the north: via Landquart – Klosters by car transport through the Vereina Tunnel (Selfranga – Sagliains) or via the Flüela Pass into the Lower Engadine on H27
From the east: via Landeck / Austria in the direction of St. Moritz on H27From south: via Reschenpass (Nauders – Martina) or Ofenpass (Val Müstair – Zernez) on H27
From the Engadin road (H27) take the Tarasp Vulpera exit
