Description

The village centre of Vella is characterised by its stone houses, the Sogn Roc chapel and the castle de Mont. The final stage connects the village of Vella with Lumbrein. Of course, the direct route would be too easy: another climb awaits, but it's worth it.

Shortly after the natural swimming lake Davos Munts, the trail goes uphill. Altitude meters on snow feel different: more challenging, but also more meditative. Step by step, the highest point of the tour is approaching: Curschellas at an altitude of over 1700 meters. Here winter shows its impressive side once again: quiet, white and wide, the view wanders over to Pèz Terri, one of the mightiest peaks in the region.

The descent winds down into the valley in many hairpin bends. Lumbrein is getting closer, the first stables line the path. The houses are becoming denser, village life is palpable. After three eventful days, the Via Mundaun ends in Lumbrein with its landmark, the medieval residential tower "Chisti da Lumerins". The giant crystal from Péz Regina is also well-known. The 950-kilogram crystal group, one of the largest ever found in the Alps, can be viewed in the Casa d'Angel cultural centre. From Lumbrein, a post bus runs back to Vella every hour.
