Bergün/Bravuogn

Finds from the Bronze Age, a stone on the Crap Alv and various other finds and hypotheses suggest that Bergün and the pass crossing were inhabited and committed very early. One of the earliest reported years is 1188. It indicates the construction of the church.

The tower "La tuor" characterizes the villagescape. Little is known about the construction of the Roman tower. Built as an escape and defense tower, it was even converted into a prison at the time of railway construction. In 1323 he burned down to the walls with the whole village. The episcopal period lasted until 1537, when the court of Greifenstein ransomed for 2300 guilders from the diocese of Chur. In addition to the mule time, in 1868 the time of stagecoach traffic began on the Albula Pass. It also brought the first tourists to Bergün. 1903, on the 1st of July the first train leaves for the Engadine. The time of the stagecoach is over, the operation is discontinued.
