Nature reserve Heidiland
Gebiet Flumserberge

The Flumserberg area offers a fascinating landscape with intensely folded Lias rock layers and fossils. Especially in the evening light, the moraines and old stream courses on Fursch are clearly visible. Wissmeilen, with its gypsum and dolomite layers, resembles a lunar landscape.
Description
At Sächsmor and between Prodkamm (e.g., along the Geotrail) and Magerrain, the Lias rock layers — which in places contain fossils such as shells, belemnites, and ammonites, as well as beautiful sedimentary structures — are intensely folded. In the evening light, the moraines and ancient streambeds on Fursch are best seen. On the Wissmeilen, the sparse vegetation, white gypsum and gray dolomite layers, as well as gnarled rauhwacke towers, evoke a lunar landscape.
