Gebiet Pizol

In the Pizol area are the easternmost outcrops of Glarus Verrucano and the Glarus main thrust. It falls from over 2700 m.a.s.l. in the area of the Pizolsattel to the north in the area of Wangs under the valley plain. The Pizol Glacier still exists, but it is suffering greatly from rising temperatures. Older glacier tracks such as glacial polishes and scrapes, moraine walls or gravel meadows in the Wildsee area are beautifully preserved.
