Chapel Disentis Sedrun

Kapelle St. Nikolaus, Runs

Das Foto zeigt die Kapelle St. Niklaus in runs
The chapel of St. Niklaus in Runs is located on the old cantonal road west of Rabius. The simple Baroque building, like numerous other chapels in the Surselva, dates back to the 17th century. It stands on the old path that used to lead through the hamlet of Runs towards the Disentis pattern.

Description

After a fire damage, the chapel was thoroughly renovated in 1930. In the years 1992-1993 the chapel was restored again and the roof covered with shingles. The chapel is open at all times and invites you to enter and linger. From now on, day and night, and certainly for many decades, it will watch over the new bridge of the Val Mulinaun, which was opened in autumn 2017. The small vaulted chapel faces south. The nave is 3.5 meters long and 3.30 meters wide. On the altar stands a late Gothic wooden figure of St. Nicholas from the 16th century.
